Folio is proud to present Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy first published in 1878 and widely considered to be the greatest works of literature ever written.
The story takes place against the backdrop of the liberal reforms initiated by Alexander II of Russia, the rapid social transformations that followed. It centers on the extramarital affair between Anna Karenina and the dashing Count Vronsky that scandalizes St Petersburg society.
Using the Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition, our discussions will be based on the technique of Shared Inquiry developed by the Great Books Foundation.
