Folio: The Seattle Athenaeum is delighted to welcome author, journalist and Folio member Bess Lovejoy for a comprehensive specialized five-part workshop, designed to help writers transform the way they gather, vet, and synthesize information. View the full 5-week schedule.
This series goes far beyond basic search queries, guiding participants through the labyrinth of primary and secondary sources, from the devils you know, lGoogle and Wikipedia, to the hidden treasures found in physical archives, scholarly journals, and the Wayback Machine. As the workshop progresses, the focus shifts from gathering to vetting data, working with AI, navigating misinformation, and the ethical and practical art of storytelling. By the final session, students will have moved from a simple research question to a robust, organized narrative.
