About the Event
Folio: The Seattle Athenaeum and and retired wine expert and Folio member Jeff McKay, invite you to enjoy a curated selection of Thomas Jefferson's favorite wines.
During his time as US Ambassador to France and later as Secretary of State, Jefferson's visited some of Europe’s greatest wineries and vineyards at the time, satisfying his personal curiosities and gaining valuable insight for fostering an American Wine Industry.
Learn the history of Jefferson's passion for wine and his failed home vineyards, and enjoy tasting a curated selection of European wines from his travels, as well as wines made from grapes grown near his beloved Monticello estate, which he never got to see or taste.
As with previous wine tastings, members of the audience are invited to join Jeff and Folio staff to read from Thomas Jefferson's work.
