About the Event
Folio: The Seattle Athenaeum concludes our 250th celebration with a reading pairing two of the most significant texts in American history, the Declaration of Independence (1776) and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail" (1963), led by Folio librarian Lillian Dabney.
Together, these documents reflect both the promises of American democracy and the civil rights struggles that have defined its ongoing work. This evening invites honest conversation about the distance between founding ideals and lived reality, and what it means to act on them today.
This event is free and open to all.
