About the Event
Every June, readers around the world mark Bloomsday, the day James Joyce's Leopold Bloom walked through Dublin in Ulysses. In partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Consulate General of Ireland, Folio: Seattle Athenaeum is delighted to participate in Bloomsday & Beyond: a celebration of Ireland, the Island of Writers.
In Seattle we will celebrate with local partners Irish Heritage Club and Irish Network Seattle, in a Global Book Giveaway and an evening of Irish literature. The evening will begin with short readings of selected poems in both Gaelic and English, bringing to life the richness and range of Ireland's literary voice. Guests will enjoy a free selection of books by Irish authors to take home.
Following the readings, join us for a happy hour featuring “gorgonzola sandwiches and burgundy”, a nod to Leopold Bloom's own famously described lunch, alongside Guinness, brown bread, and smoked salmon in true Irish style. Elliott Bay Book Company will…
