Library Code of Conduct

At Folio we strive to provide an atmosphere conducive to reading, writing, study and research.

All guests should respect this overriding goal in their behavior and the manner in which they enjoy the Library.

1. Silence should be maintained in the reading rooms.

2. Talking on cell phones is prohibited. Please be sure to turn your device to silent when you enter Folio.

All electronic devices must be used only in silent (not vibrate) mode. This rule will be strictly enforced by the staff. 

3. The Northwest Room is available to rent for both in person and online meetings and phone calls.

4. Food is not permitted in the reading rooms. Bottled, canned or covered beverages are permitted.

Use the Atrium seating area for meals.

5. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not allowed anywhere in the Library.

6. Appropriate dress (including footwear) must be worn at all times.

7. Bags, briefcases, and backpacks are subject to inspection by Folio staff.

8. Folio welcomes service animals. 

9. Items of personal property are brought into Folio at the owner's risk.

Folio cannot accept responsibility for loss of such items or for theft or damage.

10. Use of the photocopier and printer must comply with copyright laws.

11.  All users of the library must vacate the reading rooms fifteen minutes before closing time.

The Library closes promptly at 6PM on Monday-Friday and 4PM on Saturday.

12. Folio staff members reserve the right to call a halt to all activities deemed to be inconsiderate or disorderly,

and to ask anyone whose behavior is deemed inappropriate to leave the library.
