Jane Lang Davis and Andy Warhol in front of Warhols's portrait of Davis at Andy Warhol: Portraits opening reception, 1976, From the Seattle Art Museum Photo Archives.
Folio is delighted to add selections from the library of Jane Lang Davis to our collection.
Davis, along with her late husband Richard Lang, were leading proponents of the arts in Seattle.
From the creation of the Pacific Northwest Ballet to the expansion and growth of the Seattle Art Museum Davis was always front and center. She served as a trustee for SAM for over 30 years and along with husband Dave Davis served equally as long on International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in NY.
Richard and Jane also assembled one of the greatest private collections of abstract expressionist and post-war art in the world.
From a post on the SAMblog after her death:
Through her incredible generosity, steadfast leadership, and constant willingness to share works from her collection for the benefit of our region, SAM blossomed into the museum it is today. We are forever grateful.
We are honored to be the home for a selection of books from such a seminal figure in the Seattle art world.
