Title: Business Manager


Reports to: David Brewster, president

Commencement date: December 1, 2016

Position is salaried: $2,000/month, 20 hours/week

 

Job Purpose:

To perform business tasks for a newly opened nonprofit membership library and cultural center in downtown Seattle. These include detailed financial oversight and budgeting; technical systems for budgeting and database for membership and donors; key organizational tasks that ensure efficient operation of the organization.


Duties:

Perform basic financial functions: payroll, A/R, A/P, purchasing, HR, budgeting
Prepare financial reports for board
Develop and maintain database for members, donors, and prospective donors
Manage member communications and coordinate mailings
Assist president in planning membership drives, renewal campaigns, and member events
Maintain important documents for organization
Provide general support at main desk ---assist members, direct inquiries to appropriate staffers


Qualifications:

Experience in business management, preferably with nonprofits, startups, and small organizations
Skilled with technology, particularly spread sheets, database, and contact-management systems
Organized and productive multitasker
Effective team player
Outgoing personality that engages well with public, members, and partners

Experience Desired:

Knowledge of Seattle; well-networked
Familiarity with nonprofit rules and regulations
Fond of books; well-read


Aspects of the Position:

Folio is one of 20 membership libraries in America. Such libraries are high-quality circulating collections drawn from fine private libraries, supported in part by member dues, and serving the public with numerous programs. It is located in historic rooms as a separate wing of the Downtown YMCA.

Position is salaried, 20 hours/week (likely two full days and part of a third). Some flexibility about hours. Library hours are 10-5 weekdays, with some evening programs and hours.
Folio is located at Fourth and Marion, downtown Seattle, on multiple transit lines.
